On design and technology

Code is a universal language. It allows us to talk to machines. It gives us access to a fundamental layer of technology. Code is the DNA of our modern world. Our economy, communication and digital infrastructure are all built upon it. It redefines our perspective on design and storytelling.

Creative coding is an experimental way of exploring this strange material, dissecting and reshaping it into new and unseen forms. To me, creative coding is applied speculative design. A tool to explore possible futures. A discipline that trains us to think in motion, patterns, possibilities and systems.

Creative technologists blend code with the rich vocabulary of design and visual communication.

As artists and designers, we have the unique opportunity of dreaming up new forms of coexistence between society and technology.
